Another quote that doesn't deserve an article. And Bart Simpson wasn't the first person to say it. Either redirect to The Simpsons or move to Wikiquote. RickK 07:47, Aug 24, 2004 (UTC)
- Agreed. We don't need to give every TV character's catchphrase its own article. Delete. Livajo 07:52, 24 Aug 2004 (UTC)
- Agreed. Moreover, it's totally inaccurate. Bart Simpson's use of the phrase predates Cow and Chicken by many years, a fact that is obvious to just about anyone with any knowledge of The Simpsons. I agree with RickK--put the phrase on Wikiquote. Binadot
- Delete: "Don't have a cow" was in use in high school in the 1970's. I'm the same age as Matt Groenig, and a lot of the Simpsons stuff is a reference to his, and my, teen years in the US. "Ay caramba," too, is a 1970's term in English. Let's just let this go to the dark. Geogre 12:37, 24 Aug 2004 (UTC)
- Keep. I'm biassed. I am constantly reading old novels that have catch-phrases in them that are no longer in use, and there's no good place to look them up. "So's your old man," for example, and "Mother, mother, mother pin a rose on me." Here beside me is a 1965 newspaper column by John O'Hara complaining that the phrase in terms of is overused. He mentions that valid "had a ten-year run that now seems happily concluded." These things come and go, and there are surprisingly few reference works that keep track of them. Just recently the phrase "to fill the bill" has transmuted itself into "to fit the bill" and nobody knows why and nobody knows where the history of the transition is recorded. One of the potentially useful things Wikipedia can do is create good articles on current catch-phrases. This isn't a very good article, but it could get better. Just my $0.02. I believe I will add a section on "catchphrases" to Wikipedia:What's in, what's out [[User:Dpbsmith|Dpbsmith (talk)]] 01:49, 28 Aug 2004 (UTC)
- Keep, but add pre-Simpsons history. More notable than most catchphrases because after being enshrined in modern shows. +sj+ 09:26, 28 Aug 2004 (UTC)
- Delete. Not encyclopedic. Does wikiquotes take this kind of stuff? anthony (see warning) 14:03, 28 Aug 2004 (UTC)
- Weak keep - needs the context mentioned above. -Sean Curtin 00:04, Aug 29, 2004 (UTC)
