Time to split the article?
[edit]It think it's time to break this article into parts and set up a disambiguation page. There are three separate uses, and each is widely divergent enough that I don't think they belong together anymore. Also, I think the history of the phrase probably goes farther back in glassblowing than the gold rush, but haven't researched that yet.
Please advise me of any objections. --Unfocused 20:34, 3 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Scots versus British
[edit]Why was the paragraph about Scots usage changed to say it is informal British? My wife who has a Scots background says it was in use in her household in the 60s while I have never heard of it, I'm English from the south. Kwhitefoot (talk) 18:15, 11 March 2015 (UTC)
Other uses?
[edit]glory hole is also a term for the heated chambers used by glassblowers to melt the glass. 86.92.89.111 (talk) 18:15, 8 June 2023 (UTC)
