The "Resident" is analagous to a CIA "Station Chief", i.e. head of the Rezidentura, or Residency (Station in CIA parlance). Soviets use ordinary "Case Officers" as all organizaitons do worldwide. Nobs01 04:34, 26 Jun 2005 (UTC)
I'm going to fix some of the sentence fragments, but I think this page should be renamed. It's mostly about espionage in general, not "agent handling" in particular.66.203.191.204 04:14, 13 July 2005 (UTC)
- Please note: As this page defines, espionage and counter espionage are two entirely separate fields. This page can be regarded in some degree as a disambiguation page between the two, which needs to be done somewhere within the larger encyclopedia. Nobs01 14:43, 13 July 2005 (UTC)
Material in this article
[edit]While espionage organizations and counter espionage organizations use different terminology, as well as espionage organizations and counter espionage from different nations use different terminology, some terminology is common to all. One aim in this article is to separate the language between various national organizations and various specialties, and most particularly to identify what organization or national entity uses what specific terminology; and also, to explain similarities in meaning based upon the various idioms from which they are drawn. Hence, the "dogs breakfast", I assume, from which you speak. "Agent handling", in one form or another, is common to all subjects of this article. A more apt tile may eventually become Universal glossary of espionage and counterespionage terminology. Nobs01 15:28, 13 July 2005 (UTC)
- I'm going to make some cuts, based on a lack of focus here even after some months. Charles Matthews 16:45, 11 November 2005 (UTC)
Real Need for Editing
[edit]Much of this page should be integrated into the page on Espionage. Subordinate sections should be made stubs of their own, and expanded later.
This page should address Agent Handling only.

Future Status of this Entry
[edit]I completed an overhaul of the page, deleting poorly written material that strayed beyond the limits of the topic.
The present page is tighter, and much more readable.
Inline references are needed, however, and it is possible that it would be better to dismantle this page and incorporate segments into other pages on Wiki.

MICE: Excitement or ego?
[edit]Just a minor point if this article is edited by someone who knows: Is the E in MICE ego, excitement, or both? The 1st paragraph in the MICE section says ego, but the last paragraph says excitement, so a clarification & citation would help. 24.155.209.101 (talk) 16:46, 4 February 2010 (UTC)
