[edit]I know panda's are soetimes refered to as panda bears. But are they Bear Bears? I thought they were known as panda bears as they are descedents of bears. Eg Dogs come from Wolfs. Any panda experts care to add more???
- Check Giant Panda. They're listed in the Family Ursidae. --Dante Alighieri 11:43 18 Jun 2003 (UTC)

Blinky Bill doesn't strictly count as a bear because he's a koala, but since there's no list of fictional koalas and everyone likes koalas I've just added a little note to the effect... Lee M 03:10, 20 Feb 2005 (UTC)
- This isn't sufficient justification. There are now plenty of fictional koalas. I removed it. BigBlueFish (talk) 20:04, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
Um, "Brother Bear" is mentioned twice, once mentioning all the bear characters, once the main character. They call him "Brother Bear" there, but that's not really his name or title, is it? His name is Kenai, and "Brother Bear" is just the title of the movie. So I'm not sure that description fits..--Mithcoriel 21:10, 29 August 2006 (UTC)
I'm not sure that Mr Woppit belongs in a list of fictional bears, since he really exists Littlst 14:17, 24 September 2006 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:Yogi-portrait.jpg
[edit]Image:Yogi-portrait.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Image copyright problem with Image:Setdebug.png
[edit]The image Image:Setdebug.png is used in this article under a claim of fair use, but it does not have an adequate explanation for why it meets the requirements for such images when used here. In particular, for each page the image is used on, it must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Please check
- That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for the use in this article.
- That this article is linked to from the image description page.
This is an automated notice by FairuseBot. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. --21:41, 24 October 2008 (UTC)
Why don't we just call it "notable fictional bears"

Pokemon bears
[edit]Snorlax is still not even remotely a bear. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.61.105.145 (talk) 21:04, 3 September 2009 (UTC) Besides, it doesn't even have all the identifying features of a bear. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.148.72.69 (talk) 09:37, 28 January 2011 (UTC)
Major Cleanup
[edit]This article needs some major trimming and organization. I'm talking primarily about the items listed as /unnamed/, the non-notable examples (like Unnamed - teddy bear belonging to Radar O'Reilly, a character on "M*A*S*H") I'd also like to merge the List of fictional Pandas into this article but only if there is consensus to do this. I'm putting this here to let any editors who are frequently on this article know before hand and not get into an edit war. If there are any objections, please message here. Thanks! Boog from the Open Season franchise of films is missing
[edit]Boog is (one of) the main character(s) in the Open Season films. The third? film also has him encounter a circus bear, and they switch places. There is a female love interest as well. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Open_Season_%28film_series%29 68.12.195.143 (talk) 17:02, 2 October 2013 (UTC)

Description of "Mord" for Mord from "Borne" was rolled back as "not constructive"
[edit]_"A giant killer bear with ability to levitate who terrorizes the unnamed City. Once human, he was created by the Company as enforcer. Since the Company's downfall, he has only become fiercer."_
That's the exact description of Mord the Bear from Jeff Vandermeer's "Borne" but I can't be arsed to get into a wikiwar with people who haven't even read the book. Feel free to reuse.
Remove all animated bears from Film And Television Section and move them to Animated Bears Section?
[edit]I think all animated bears from the Film and Television section should be removed and added to the Animation section. There are already a lot of film and television bears in the Animated section that I feel it should be moved, or vice versa. Name13013 (talk) 16:12, 21 May 2016 (UTC)
Add The Rest Of The Collage Bear Mascots
[edit]Added up to letter k of mascots listed https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_college_mascots_in_the_United_States Can someone add the rest please? Name13013 (talk) 02:18, 15 November 2016 (UTC)
Done Name13013 (talk) 21:19, 3 January 2017 (UTC)
- @Name13013: If we're going to have a subsection of bear mascots, why isn't it labelled as "mascots"? I mean, other editors would be less likely to remove what they assume is a big grab-bag of uncited material whose tenuous relationship to each other and the page topic is barely explained if it was labelled "mascots" and not as "other"--Mr Fink (talk) 02:13, 8 March 2017 (UTC)
- @Apokryltaros: I fixed it and I hope it is OK now. Name13013 (talk) 01:47, 18 March 2017 (UTC)

Incorrect Link
[edit]The link to the author of Padistan Bear (under literature) is incorrect, it links to former Virginia senator John Warner, not the British author who has the same name. Viva Bee (talk) 00:14, 22 August 2021 (UTC)
Rentro - best character in Muppets from Space
[edit]Rentro is a brown-nosing ursine agent for C.O.V.N.E.T. in the "Muppets from Space" movie. He's the deferential assistant to K. Edgar Singer, but ultimately sympathizes with the captured Gonzo's plight. 69.46.250.138 (talk) 01:01, 26 March 2023 (UTC)
