Boat pump jets

[edit]

No mention of Jacuzzi pump jets as used in, for example, Vietnam era PBR riverine patrol boats. Spike (talk) 19:17, 3 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Draft for consideration

[edit]

Hi. My name is Danise and I work for Jacuzzi. The current page is only a few paragraphs long. It also has some trivia and citation issues. I'd like to propose an expanded draft for an impartial editor to review. I understand that it may take time for a volunteer to review my contributions and compare them to the current page. Let me know if there's anything I can do to make it easier. Thank you in advance for any assistance. Best regards. Danise Lopes (talk) 20:01, 7 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks Danise, this is great stuff. I've implemented most of the draft from your sandbox. It's still a work in progress, as all of Wiki is! Questions:
  • something's wrong with the pictures -- looks like they do not exist in Wikimedia
  • "the first recreational hot tub in 1968" is this the 1st hot tub by Jacuzzi, or the first one EVER? Not clear.
--Cornellier (talk) 20:11, 4 January 2023 (UTC):::@Cornellier: Sorry for the belated reply. Here are my notes:[reply]
  • The images in the draft were placeholders for now. I'll work on those next.
  • It was the first recreational hot tub ever (not just by Jacuzzi), but it was not the first hot tub ever, since medicinal therapy tubs were already around.
  • I fixed some minor grammar issues as uncontroversial edits.
  • I feel like this new version drops off in the

Hi Danise, here are responses to your notes, and other comments in no particular order:

  • I look forward to seeing some images uploaded to Wikimedia. The images on the Jacuzzi Heritage web page would be wonderful. If you need help with that, let me know on my talk page.
  • We say the company is "best known for the Jacuzzi brand and for its hydrotherapy products" but hydrotherapy is defined as "techniques ... for the treatment of disease and for the soothing of pain". I wonder if this is a correct characterization. Most people I think would associate the brand with recreational hot tubs rather than therapy per se.
  • As for fleshing out the '90s and beyond, I don't see much on the corporate website. Perhaps some of the filed patents would give insight into R&D, especially if they could be linked to new products.
  • The official website lists the main products as hot tubs, bathroom, and swim spas. It's hard to know how important the latter two are in the business. The "one day remodel" is an interesting new business line too.
  • The existing partnerships with sports groups would be an interesting addition.

@Cornellier: I uploaded three historical photos I was able to confirm copyright ownership of[1] and emailed OTRS with a Declaration of Consent. I agree with your second bullet above as well. I'll work on any good sources for recent sports partnerships and patents. Danise Lopes (talk) 23:24, 12 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Danise Lopes: Thanks. Could you find in the company archives some pre-1928 photos which I believe are now in the public domain? Sorry if that's a dumb question. You know much more about this than I do and may have considered it already. --Cornellier (talk) 00:03, 13 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @Cornellier:. My employer bought Jacuzzi in the 1950s, so it wouldn't have anything pre-1928. A photo of the Smithsonian exhibit would be excellent, but the company doesn't have anyone located in Washington near the Smithsonian. Are the photos I provided unusable? It took a lot for me to get them, so hopefully they can be put to use. Best regards. Danise Lopes (talk) 17:14, 16 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @Danise Lopes, please check the photos you uploaded, they've been tagged with a notice saying that the copyright status is unclear. Cornellier (talk) 04:08, 20 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Cornellier: The copyrights on the images I uploaded[2][3][4] are finally squared away via a Declaration of Consent releasing their copyrights. I especially like this one of a Jacuzzi store-front from when it sold pumps around the 1930s. Danise Lopes (talk) 17:05, 21 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Danise Lopes: great work! I know it's not easy sorting out the legalities on photos if you didn't actually take them yourself. Por que no las tres? --Cornellier (talk) 20:43, 25 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I have learned a great deal during this process. Thank you very much for your time and consideration. Danise Lopes (talk) 22:34, 13 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
