Can anyone make sense of this?

You can either be a stealer or a checker. If you're a checker all those checks will waste your turbo as you'll be power-checking, which is a complicated animation, so you'll be slow (ask your partner whether she has a preference; A-mode games are three-on-three). The stealer, known as "Robin Hood" by the announcier, is an identity to be assumed by advanced users only. Hooks are a good value. You might save your statistics on a memory card thereby viewing checks as a cumulative positive or negative value.

Use the Z-trigger to shoot if you are intimate-close to the net; otherwise one-timers are useful as is lighting, like life, the goal on fire ("call the fire department") or knocking the goalie into the net, like Montreal (one must see the whites of his eyes and have her turbo to achieve this feat: no angles). Gretzky is a game of percentages of three phases; the team with the most shots-on-goal will win, catch-up notwithstanding.

  • Right after the NHL goalie turns into a brick wall, he is vulnerable!

When boxing, use your uppercut (stealers are poor fighters).
