[edit]I would question how much the slight elevation difference between Atlanta and the other Eastern major-league cities has much to do with the frequency with which home runs were hit there. I think that this was far more likely to be primarily to the dimensions, which were small for a major-league park. The outfield was particualry small after the plate was moved closer to the outfield fence and the amount of foul territory behind it increased.

- I agree. It was the dimension of the park. <-- posted by 72.152.249.130 (talk · contribs) on July 11, 2006
- Didn't the humidity also play a major factor, given the really warm air in the summer in Atlanta?99.18.180.237 (talk) 16:53, 16 January 2012 (UTC)
- I wonder if the original poster is still checking for responses here, after 7 1/2 years. :) Elevation was often given as a reason for the stadium being "the launching pad". I don't know if anyone has actually done a micro-study of the phenomenon. That might be a good thing for you to research. :) ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 16:57, 16 January 2012 (UTC)

"Atlanta Stadium"
[edit]I recently found the date for the stadium being renamed - it was 1976. I updtaed this page as well as the Braves, Falcons, Crackers, and 1972 All-Star Game. I found the date referenced on the Braves website http://atlanta.braves.mlb.com/atl/ballpark/history.jsp and the cover of the 1972 ASG program (http://www.the-forum.com/COLLECT/allstar.htm) only mentions Atlanta. Fire
[edit]There really should be mention of the fire that happened in 1993 from someone who has knowledge on the matter. Anung Mwka 23:42, 26 September 2007 (UTC)
