Jacobitism has been reasonably enough categorised in "Category:History of Britain", but why not "Category:History of Scotland" and "Category:History of Ireland" as well? To me the categories are a useful way of finding articles, and it seems natural to look for Jacobitism along with other articles about Scotland: given that Ireland, France and Spain were also involved and taking this to an extreme it would appear only under "Category:History of Europe", but this would be unhelpful to most people. - dave souza

since no-one has answered, I've added this category to Jacobitism, and have also categorised it as Category:Scottish wars as the article inclues the relevant military campaigns: would it make people happier if I split the article? If it's split, each bit needs a summary of the other to set the context, dave souza 23:28, 4 Oct 2004 (UTC)

Too many articles in this category

[edit]

I propose that about 50 articles be removed from the History of Scotland category, and recategorized in subordinate categories. For example, the articles on clans would be removed from this category, but remain within the Scottish Clans category. The benefit of such a change is that the entire History of Scotland category would be displayed on a single page. A secondary reason for such a re-organization is that presently there are articles about important events which do not appear in this category (e.g., Scottish Civil War), and articles about less important topics which do. It's become a dustbin, quite frankly, for all sorts of odds and ends.--Rcpaterson 16:45, 21 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I removed the Scottish clans.--Celtus (talk) 08:33, 25 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
